God’s Love Never Fails | Verse of the Day - May 12, 2026 (Morning Prayer)

Jeremiah 31:3 Scripture Reflection

Share Today's Reflection:

Verse of the Day: 12 May 2026

When we feel like we are invisible to the world and that our mistakes have finally pushed everyone away, there is a voice that calls us from across the years. It is a whisper that breaks through our deepest loneliness to remind us that we were loved long before we took our first breath, and we will be loved long after the sun goes down.

The Word

The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with loving devotion.”

- Jeremiah 31:3

Thoughts on Today's Verse

We look for love in the things we do, the money we make, or the way other people look at us. It feels like we are running a race that never ends, trying to be good enough or pretty enough or smart enough to be wanted. But this kind of love from the world is very fragile and can break like a thin piece of glass. If we make a mistake, it goes away. If we lose our job, it fades. It is a very scary way to live because we always feel like we are one step away from being left all alone in the dark. But God tells us something very different. He tells us that His love is not like a prize we have to win. It is not something we can lose because we had a bad day or said the wrong thing. He tells us that He has loved us with a love that has no beginning and no end. It is like the deep ocean that goes on forever and ever, and we are just swimming in it. We do not have to work for it. We do not have to earn it. We just have to let it hold us.

Imagine a little child who is lost in a very big and crowded store. The child is crying and feels very small and scared because they cannot see their mommy or daddy anywhere. Then, from far away, they hear a familiar voice calling their name. That voice is full of love and it makes the child feel safe even before they can see the person. This is how God speaks to us from a place that feels far away but is actually very close. He has seen us from the very start. He saw us when we were babies, and He sees us now that we are grown up. He knows every secret we are ashamed of and every dream we are afraid to tell anyone. And even knowing all of that, He still says that He loves us. His love is like a long rope that He throws to us when we are sinking in the mud of our own sadness. He uses that rope of kindness to pull us toward Him, not to punish us, but to hug us. He draws us in with a gentle hand because He wants to be near us. He does not scream or yell at us to get better. He just loves us until we feel brave enough to stand up again.

This love is called everlasting because it is the only thing in this world that will never, ever stop.

Think about all the things that change in our lives as the years go by. Our houses get old, our cars break down, and even our best friends might move away to a different city. We look in the mirror and see that we are getting older too. It can make us feel like nothing lasts and that everything we love will eventually disappear like smoke. But God’s love is the one thing that stays exactly the same. It is the solid ground under our feet when everything else is shaking like an earthquake. It is like a fire that keeps us warm in the winter and never runs out of wood. When we wake up at three o'clock in the morning and our minds are full of scary thoughts, this love is right there in the room with us. It does not get tired of us. It does not get bored of hearing our prayers. It is a love that outlasts our worst days and our biggest failures. We can lean our whole weight on this love and it will never snap or bend. It is the same love that created the mountains and the stars, and it is all pointed right at our hearts.

We are drawn to Him by a kindness that is so soft it feels like a summer breeze on our faces.

Sometimes we think that God is an angry boss who is watching us from the sky, waiting for us to trip so He can point his finger at us. We think we have to be scared of Him or that we have to hide our true selves because we are messy. But that is not what the Bible says. It says He draws us with loving devotion. That means He is like a gardener who carefully waters a thirsty plant. He is patient and He is sweet. He uses His goodness to win our hearts over. Have you ever seen a person try to catch a little kitten? If they run and shout, the kitten will hide under the porch. But if they sit very still and hold out a little bit of food and speak in a soft voice, the kitten will eventually come out and sit on their lap. This is how God treats us. He is so kind that we eventually want to be near Him. We realize that He is the safest place in the whole world. We start to move toward Him because we see that He is the only one who truly understands us. We find that in His presence, we do not have to pretend anymore. We can just be ourselves, and that is exactly who He wants to be with.

This love changes the way we see every single part of our day from the moment we open our eyes.

When we know we are loved with an everlasting love, we do not have to be so afraid of what people think of us. We can be kind to the person who is mean to us because we have a full heart that does not need anything from them. We can be brave and try new things because we know that even if we fail, God will still be right there to catch us. It is like a safety net under a person walking on a high rope. The net allows them to walk with their head held high. We can face the hard parts of our lives, like being sick or feeling sad, because we know this love is holding us together. We see that every good thing in our lives is a gift from our Father who has been planning to love us forever. We are not accidents. We are not mistakes. We are the chosen ones of the Most High God. We are His treasures, and He is never going to let us go. This truth should make us want to dance or sing or just sit quietly and smile. We are loved by the King, and that is the most important thing about us. It is the story of our lives, and it is a story that has a very happy ending. We are being pulled closer to Him every day, and one day we will see just how big and wide and deep this love really is. Until then, we can rest. We can trust. We can know that we are never, ever alone.

Prayer for the day.

Dear God, we come to You today because our hearts are often very hungry for a love that stays. We feel so lonely sometimes, even when we are in a room full of people. We look at our lives and see all the ways we have messed up, and we worry that You might be tired of us. Please help us to hear Your voice today whispering that You love us. Help us to believe that Your love started before the world began and that it will never end. We thank You for being the one person who knows everything about us and still wants to be our friend. We are so grateful that You do not give up on us when we are at our worst.

Thank You for drawing us close to You with Your kindness. We are so glad that You are not a mean or angry God, but a Father who is full of mercy and sweet devotion. We feel Your love pulling us out of the dark holes we sometimes fall into. Please help us to stop running away from You and to start running toward You. We want to live our lives in the warmth of Your smile. We give You our fears about the future and our hurts from the past. We trust that Your everlasting love is enough to fix every broken part of our souls. We want to be wrapped up in Your arms today and every day of our lives.

Please help us to show this same kind of love to the people we meet today. We want to be a mirror that reflects Your light to our families and our neighbors. Give us the strength to be patient and the heart to be generous, just like You are with us. We thank You for the peace that comes from knowing we belong to You. We are so happy that we do not have to earn Your favor. We just want to sit at Your feet and say thank you for being so good to us. We love You because You loved us first, and we are so glad that Your love will never, ever go away. We put our lives in Your hands and we trust You with everything we have. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
