Verse of the Day: 13 May 2026
The Word
But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.
- Jeremiah 17:7Thoughts on Today's Verse
Life has a way of throwing surprises at us that make our hearts beat fast with fear. One day everything is going fine, and the next day we get a phone call or a piece of mail that changes everything. We look at our bank accounts, or our health, or our broken relationships and we feel like we are about to sink. We try so hard to fix things by ourselves. We stay up late thinking of plans and we worry until our heads hurt. But when we trust in our own power, it is like trying to hold up a giant building with a toothpick. We were never meant to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. We find true rest only when we let go and let God take the lead. It is a beautiful thing to realize that we do not have to have all the answers. We just have to know the One who does. When we put our trust in Him, it is like moving our house from the shifting sand to a big, solid rock that cannot be moved by any wind or any wave.
Being blessed does not mean that we will never have any problems or that life will always be easy and smooth. Sometimes we think that if God loves us, we will never be sad or lose anything important. But the blessing God gives us is much deeper than just having a good day. It is a quiet strength that stays inside us even when things are going wrong. Think about a tree that has very deep roots. When a dry summer comes and there is no rain, the grass turns brown and dies, but the tree stays green because its roots go all the way down to the hidden water deep in the earth. That is what it is like for us when we trust in God. Our roots go down into His love. Even when life feels dry and hard, we still have a source of life that keeps us going. We can still be kind to others and we can still have hope because we are drinking from a well that never runs out. This is the secret of the people who can smile even when they are going through a hard time. They are not faking it; they are just rooted in something much bigger than their problems.
Confidence is a word that means we are totally sure that someone will do what they promised to do.
Imagine a little child who is standing on a high ledge and their father is standing below with his arms wide open. The father says, "Jump, I will catch you!" The child might be a little bit scared of the height, but they look at their father's face and they see that he is strong and that he loves them. Because the child has confidence in the father, they jump into the air. We are invited to jump into God's arms every single day. He has never dropped anyone who trusted Him. He has a perfect record of being faithful. We can have confidence in Him because He is the King of everything. He knows the end of the story before it even begins. When we put our confidence in Him, we stop looking at how big our giants are and start looking at how big our God is. It changes the way we walk and the way we talk. We don't have to brag or be loud to be confident. We can be quiet and calm because we know that the Creator of the universe is looking out for us. We can go to sleep at night and not worry about tomorrow because we know He is already there.
He is the only one who will never let us down or walk away when things get messy.
People can be wonderful, but they are also human and they make mistakes. Sometimes the people we love the most can hurt our feelings or forget to help us when we need them. If we put all our trust in people, we will eventually end up feeling sad and disappointed. But God is different from people. He does not get tired and He never forgets a promise. He does not have bad moods where He decides to stop being nice to us. His heart is always open and His hand is always stretched out to help us. When we make Him our confidence, we are building our lives on a foundation that will last forever. We can be honest with Him about how we feel. We can tell Him when we are angry or when we are confused. He is a safe place for our hearts. He is like a best friend who knows all our secrets and still thinks we are special. We are so lucky to have a God who wants us to trust Him. He does not want us to be afraid of Him. He wants us to lean on Him like a tired person leans on a strong wall.
This way of living changes every little thing about our daily journey.
When we trust in the Lord, we start to see the world through eyes of hope instead of eyes of fear. We see a hard job as a place where God can show His power. We see a lonely day as a time to talk more with our Father. We don't have to be the strongest person in the room anymore. We can be small and weak, and that is okay because our God is strong for us. We start to notice the little ways He takes care of us, like a beautiful sunset or a kind word from a stranger. We realize that we are being looked after by someone who loves us more than we can even imagine. This trust is like a light that gets brighter and brighter the more we use it. It guides us through the dark woods of life and leads us to a place of peace. We are blessed not because we are perfect, but because we belong to a perfect God. We can hold our heads high and breathe deep today. We are safe, we are loved, and we are being carried by the One who never fails. Every step we take is a step on solid ground because He is with us. We can look at the future and smile because we know who holds the future in His hands. Our story is not going to end in sadness. It is going to end in the arms of the One we trusted all along.
Prayer for the day.
Dear God, we come to You today because we are tired of trying to be strong on our own. We confess that we often worry about our lives and try to fix everything with our own hands. We get scared when the world feels shaky and we forget that You are the solid rock that never moves. Please help us to let go of our worries and put them into Your big, kind hands. We want to trust You more than we trust ourselves. We want to be like that tree with deep roots that stays green even when the rain does not come. Thank You for being a safe place for us to hide when life gets too loud and too hard.
We thank You for the confidence we can have in Your love. We are so glad that You never change and that You never break Your promises to us. Please fill our hearts with a peace that the world cannot understand. When we feel like we are sinking in the waves of life, remind us to look at Your face. Help us to remember all the times You have saved us in the past so we can have hope for today. We give You our families, our work, and our health. We trust that You are working everything out for our good, even when we cannot see it. We are so happy that we do not have to carry our burdens alone anymore.
Please help us to show this trust to everyone we meet today. We want our lives to be a sign of Your goodness and Your power. Give us a calm spirit and a heart full of joy, no matter what happens. We thank You for being our Father and our King. We are so blessed to be Your children and to live under Your care. We love You and we praise You with everything we have. We choose to put our confidence in You today and we know that You will never let us down. Thank You for walking beside us and for holding our hands through every single step of this journey. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
